Snooker

Snooker is a cue sport which originated among British Army officers stationed in India in the latter half of the 19th century. It is played on a rectangular table covered with a green cloth, with pockets at each of the four corners and in the middle of each long side.

Snooker requires precision, strategy, and high levels of concentration, making it a highly competitive and mentally demanding activity.

Single Frame Snooker

• Quick Play: Each match is decided by just one frame. This format is often used in amateur competitions and friendly games.

Best of Series Snooker

• Long Play: Matches are played to the best of a predetermined number of frames. This is the norm in professional snooker, with the World Championship final being best of 35 frames.

Double Elimination Snooker

• Second Chance: In these tournaments, players have to lose two matches before they are knocked out of the tournament. This gives players a chance to recover from a bad game.

Handicap Snooker

• Level Playing Field: Players start with a certain number of points based on their skill level to ensure fair competition between players of different abilities.

Team Snooker

• Team Play: Teams of players compete against each other. The team with the highest combined score wins.

• Snooker is part of the World Games, with events in both individual and team disciplines.
• There are also world championships organized by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) for various disciplines.
